Smart Escape Lockdown

Smart Escape Lockdown is the variant of the SE System that responds to active shooters and other mobile threats in a building.

The core purpose of Smart Escape Lockdown is to prompt building occupants to take one of three different actions: Run, Hide or Fight. SE Lockdown can process many different external inputs that help the SE System obtain as much information on the location and nature of the threat as possible. These inputs can include, but are not necessarily limited to, facial recognition cameras, gunshot detectors, and even manual system input by someone who knows the location of the threat. When the SE System receives any one of these inputs it will engage SE Lockdown. The SE System itself will process any and all inputs it is given to constantly adjust to the changing location of the threat, even accounting for the threat’s line-of-sight and how long it will take for the threat to travel to any location.

SE Lockdown ensures the safety of building occupants by relying on room indicators to relay appropriate information. After SE Lockdown is engaged, the room indicator will either shine green, blue or a flashing red. Green indicates that it is safe for building occupants to make a run for safety out of the door the indicator is assigned to. Once in a corridor, building occupants will then follow a series of cascading green lights displayed by the SE System corridor indicators, which guide away from the threat and to the safest exit. A blue room indicator signals that the threat is nearby or may have easy access to visual line-of-sight to that indicator’s door, which means it is unsafe to run and would be safer to lockdown and hide. A flashing red room indicator signals that the threat is directly outside of the door and that fighting the threat may be necessary.

While Smart Escape Lockdown can interface with many different devices and systems, it can be run solely through manual input. Smart Escape Lockdown does not include any auxiliary detection systems (Cameras, gunshot detectors, etc.) and can only interface with existing systems installed in the building.
